Kyambogo University was established in 2003 through the University and Other Tertiary Institutions Act (2003), Instrument No. 37.
In August 2007, the Kyambogo University Council approved a five-year Strategic Plan which expired in 2012. The strategic and systematic direction of the growth of the University is premised in its motto of advancing “Knowledge and Skills for Service” through her flagship areas of engineering, teacher education, special needs, technical science and vocational education. Our motto will still drive this second 10 year Strategic Plan (2012/13 – 2022/23). This second Strategic Plan is a result of consultations and participation of stakeholders leading to strategies and activities to steer the University in the next ten (10) years.
Since the University is in its formative stages, the realization of all areas of focus has been difficult especially within the five (5) year period of the last Strategic Plan (2007/2008 – 2011/2012). Funding as a significant resource will now feature prominently in this Strategic Plan to enable the realization of the strategic focus areas of development in the University. Funds must be sourced through Government, other donors and our own non-tax revenue within the University.
