David K, Khaemba
Khaemba is a teaching staff and Examination Coordinator in the Department of Community and Disability Studies. He has taught in the department since 2002. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Special Needs Education from the University of Oslo, Norway, Bachelor of Education, Special Needs Education (Honours), Teachers Certificate, Certificate in Orientation and Mobility, and a certificate in Communication and Deafblindness from University of Groningen, Netherlands.
He is a teacher by profession and has more than 25 years of experience in the field of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation Studies. Most recently, Khaemba’s specific areas of expertise are; orientation and mobility, braille education, low vision, adapted sports for persons with disabilities and communication and deafblindness education.
He is among the twelve pioneer Orientation and Mobility graduate in Uganda and still a pioneer staff of Kyambogo University to undertake a course in Communication and Deafblindness at Groningen University, Netherlands.
Khaemba is passionate about the needs and goals of children and adults with special needs and disabilities and believes that good service delivery is by adapting in order to expand opportunities for all.
