This is a one year programme that provides qualified graduates who wish to be well grounded as sports managers to champion the development of sport. It equips them with practical, professional and scientifically-based skills to design and run quality programmes in sport, physical education, and recreation. It as well develops capacities and skills for research and academic scholarship in sport.

Minimum entry requirements: Degree in Science or Arts subjects or equivalent from a university or recognized institution and a clean bill of health plus interest in sports .Candidates are admitted on private sponsorship scheme. Assessment is by course work, examination and industrial placement.

Specific Objectives

By the end of the programme learners should be able to:

  •  Demonstrate practical skills in sports of their choice
  •  Demonstrate core-functional management skills and basic working knowledge of sport and recreation
  •  Demonstrate core scientific knowledge, skills, values and attitudes which have a requisite for managing modern sports
  •  Demonstrate personal skills, special interests and talents related to sport, leisure, physical education and recreation
  •  Provide effective leadership for others in the field of physical education, sports and recreation
