Ojwang Vincent Paul (Ph.D.)

    Holds the PhD in Special Education (Kenyatta University, 2014), MSc in Community and Disability Studies (University of London, 1994), MA in Education ÔÇô Special Needs Education, (University of Durham, 1985) BA in Psychology (Makerere University, 1981).

    Taught various courses UNISE, then later Kyambogo University between 1993 up to the present time. Taught on part time on the MasterÔÇÖs degree in CBRin Makerere University.

    Participated in the development of diploma in Special needs education, the diploma in CBR, the Postgraduate Diploma in CBR, and the Bachelors degree in CBR. He also contributed to the writing of modules for training of special education teachers at Diploma level.   

    Supervised the research and Plan of Action writing by undergraduate and postgraduate students.  

    Was a consultant to University of Winneba in Ghana for development of CBR curriculum (2007), Kampala University on review of  the curriculum for the Bachelor of Special Needs Education. 

    Together with colleagues, he has published articles including on Positive Psychology the case of Uganda, International Guidelines and the Inclusion of disabled people, the Ugandan story, how carers of disabled children cope in Uganda, CBR Training, Implementation of Inclusive Education in Uganda and a study on why children do not go school in selected areas in Kampala.

    Unpublished work has been on Availability and Effectiveness of HIV/AIDS Awareness and Intervention Programmes for People Living with Disabilities in Uganda.

    Presented papers on CBR Training in Uganda at the International Conference in CBR in UNISE-Kampala; September 2001 and on the Disability Load on Households Hosting Children with Deaf-blindness in Iganga, Mayuge & Jinja Districts, Uganda. June 2014, Kenyatta University.

    Current Writing in on development of Special Education in Uganda: A historical perspective.

    It addition to teaching in Kyambogo University, he is part of the team that runs the distance learning programme for teachers every holiday.  He is currently on the committee on development of inclusive education policy in Uganda and promotion the child to child training approach in Ugandan schools.
