Nuwagaba Ponsiano Kabakyenga is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Community and Disability Studies, Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation. He is a Public Health Specialist who is very passionate about quality inclusive health care. His focus is on health promotion and disease prevention in the communities and his research interests are specifically on maternal and child health promotion, especially for mothers and children with disabilities. He completed his Master of Public Health (MPH) at Uganda Christian University in 2014 after his undergraduate studies in Social Work and Community Development at Kyambogo University in 2011. He also completed a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health at Fort Portal School of Clinical Officers in 2004 and a Certificate in Health Promotion and Education at Uganda Martyrs University in 2006. He holds a Diploma in Leadership Development and other professional certificates in HIV/AIDS and Palliative Care. He serves as the Departmental Deputy Examinations Coordinator and a Faculty Representative to Kyambogo University Academic Staff Association (KYUASA). He has participated in the design and development of Kyambogo University curricula for the Department of Community and Disability Studies and Department of Adult and Community Education. He is one of the 4-member Technical Team that developed the CDOs Manual for Integration of Sexual and Reproductive Health of Young People and Women and HIV/AIDS Prevention in community development work for Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MoGLSD), Uganda. Previously, he worked as a Medical Clinical Officer in different health facilities and in various capacities. He has over 11 yearsÔÇÖ experience in preventive, promotive and curative health care. Prior to lecturing in Kyambogo University, he worked as a Clinical Officer In-Charge of Bitooma Health Centre III (Private NFP), then Clinician and Trainer/Mentor in Reach Out Mbuya HIV/AIDS Initiative (NGO) where he was a member of the Core Team that designed and developed its HIV/AIDS clinical guidelines and later worked as a Medical Clinical Officer in Kyambogo University Hospital. Nuwagaba is a registered medical practitioner and member of Allied Health Professionals, Ministry of Health, Uganda.
